Mapula's Table Sugared Pecans

These pecans are delicious served warm from the oven or when allowed to cool and become crisp. I’ve served them both ways, but I prefer them an hour or two after they’ve been removed from the oven when they are crisp and crunchy. I donated a large batch of these pecans to my church for Tabernacles and they were well loved. These are great with before dinner drinks.

INGREDIENTS

2 pounds pecan halves 5 eggs (whites only) 1 cup caster sugar 1 teaspoon vanilla essence ⅛ teaspoon salt ½ teaspoon butter

DIRECTIONS

Set oven temperature to 250 F. Line cookie sheet with parchment paper, grease with butter. Whisk egg white until stiff peaks form. Fold in sugar, salt and vanilla. Add pecan halves and coat well. Spread evenly in one layer and bake for 1 hour. Remove from oven and cool for 5 minutes. Use a wooden spoon to move the pecans around the tray. This will cause the pecans to separate. Cool completely then serve or store in refrigerator until ready to serve.

Pro Tip: Sugared Pecans smell heavenly coming out of the oven. Use this recipe to lure you guests in before dinner or dessert!
